Cooperation of KFU with India in 2011 was limited to the participation of KFU staff in research activities in Indian organizations. In October two assistants of Department of Fundamental and Clinical Pharmacology from Faculty of Biology and Soil presented KFU at the Global Forum of bacterial infections in New Delhi.

In March 12-13, 2012 the delegation of the Embassy of India in the Russian Federation headed by H.E.Ambassador Mr. Ajay Malhotra paid an official visit to Kazan Federal University. During the visit two memorandums on cooperation were signed – with the Cultural Centre of Jawaharlal Nehru at the Embassy of India in Moscow and with the Cultural Center for relations development between the Republic of Tatarstan and India (Kazan). The main purpose of these MOCs is to assist in establishing research and education Center for comprehensive study of India in Institute of Oriental Studies and International Relations in KFU and to establish direct relationships within the framework of this MOCs. The parties also agreed upon sending to KFU the specialist – Indologist. It is assumed that he or she will run the new Center.

As a sign of friendship and as a gift from the Indian side in the auditorium of the Institute of Philology and Arts, there was a performance of an Indian band “Mamata Shankar Dance Company”. The band presented the play “Vasantotsav”, which in Hindi means “Spring Festival”.
