The Asian region is of considerable interest to the University of Kazan in terms of international cooperation. In Asia, there are some of the oldest and most constant partners of KFU like Hunan Normal University (China) and Kananzawa University (Japan) as well as new prospective partners, with whom cooperative agreements were signed in recent years: the Institute of RIKEN (Japan), Korea Foundation (South Korea), Istanbul University (Turkey), etc.

In addition, there is an active work on networking and mutually beneficial relations with the Organization of the Islamic cooperation and a number of its organizations: COMSTECH (Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation), ISESCO (The Islamic Organization for Education, Science and Culture), IRCICA (Research Center for Islamic History, Art and Culture), etc.

Students and staff of KFU actively go to the countries of Central and East Asia with the aim of education, internships and other research and educational purposes, annually more than 300 students from Asia study at the University of Kazan.
