The Institute of International Relations of Kazan Federal University was established on November, 1, 2013. Its history dates back to 1804 when the Imperial Kazan University was founded.

Today the Institute of International Relations of KFU is one of the elite, innovative and successful modern educational and scientific centers of Kazan (Volga region) Federal University. It trains specialists for various sectors of the economy.

High quality of professional education, fundamental scientific training, proactive research projects, broad international recognition, profound and consistent study of foreign languages –all of this rightfully constitute most valuable academic assets of IIRHOS. One of the key goals of the Institute is to train a creative personality, a true professional, successful in his or her career.

Our graduates work in the government, various regulatory and administrative authorities, and municipal bodies. They occupy the key positions in the international departments of large companies, international organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, in the most demanded sectors of national economy and science. All this contribute to high reputation of our Institute.

At present over 4,000 students, among them more than 500 foreigners (about 12 % of all students) from 38 countries, are trained here.Scientific and pedagogical activity is provided by high-level scholars, including 1 academician and 1 corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 1 academician and 3 corresponding members of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, 35 doctors and more than 200 candidates of science. The Institute provides training for students in all levels of higher education: bachelor's, master's, postgraduate courses.

Practically in all areas of training, two or more languages are taught, including English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Turkish, Arabic, Farsi, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Swahili, Afrikaans, as well as old Slavonic, old Tatar, old Ottoman Turkish , Latin, ancient Greek and others. Wide cooperation with international and Russian scientific and educational centers, the center for competence development "UNIVERSUM+" and numerous cultural programs including the study of European and Oriental languages contribute to the high level of linguistic competence of the students and provide opportunities for professional growth and further employment.
