About the Department

The training of experts in the field of ecology is provided by the Department of Bioecology, Hygiene and Public Health which continues the tradition of the ecological school of Kazan University laid down in the 1960's by Professor V.A. Popov. 

The Department of Bioecology, Hygiene and Public Health is studying biological components of ecosystems under anthropogenic transformation of the natural landscape of the Middle Volga region. This subject allows conducting comprehensive studies in the Republic of Tatarstan  within the scope of which are such topics as the environmental assessment of the protected areas in Tatarstan, environment monitoring, and biodiversity conservation. 

The department employs 13 lecturers, including 3 Dr.Sc. and 8 Candidates of Sciences.

In 2011, the Department was awarded by the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences for its outstanding research results. In 2012, the Department was awarded a diploma and professor Ilgizar Rakhimov received a golden medal from the European Scientific and Industrial Chamber for "Contributions to the Development of Environmental Research".
