Exposition setting was done by “Museum centre” group, and an artist and designer, Tatarstan Merited Master of Arts, S.I. Matveev.
Exposition is devoted to the followings themes: First steps, Kazan Teachers Training Institute (1876-1918), Kazan Pedagogical Institute (1918-1919), East Pedagogical (1920s), Tatar State Teachers Training Institute (1931-1934), Kazan State Teachers Training Institute (1934-1994), and a new let as a part of Kazan Federal University. The following sections are also presented: “The Great Patriotic War”, “Rectors of the Institute”, “Outstanding alumni”. Exposition materials represent different achievements of several generations in teaching.
The first section of the exposition “Teachers Training Institute” is devoted to its former heads – E.I. Paramonov (the 1st Head of the Institute, 1876-1896), A.I. Anastasiev (the 2nd Head of the Institute, 1896-1902), V.M. Gaiev (1906-1918). Besides that, the section presents materials about students and graduates of the Teachers Training Institute. On October 19th, 1918 Teachers Training Institute became Kazan Teachers Training Institute (see the materials of the exposition).
Among the staff that worked here was an outstanding historian, academician V.V. Adoratskii, USSR Academy of Science member V.A. Bogoroditskii, who worked in linguistics and created a Russia’s only experimental phonetic laboratory; historians N.N. Firsov, S.P. Singalevich, M.A. Fazlullin, Head of Tatar language Department at Kazan State Teachers Training Institute. Great contribution was made by Prof. G. Sharaf, D. Validi, D. Goldgammer, G. Gubaidullin, N. Vorobjev, N. Medyantsev, N. Almuhamedov, B. Bolgarskii, M. Kurbangaliev and many others (whose portraits are exhibited in the museum). M. Jalil, famous Tatar writer, studied here at Turkic-Tatar worker’s faculty of East Teachers Training Institute.
With the help of East Teachers Training Institute members, similar institutions were opened in Izhevsk, Ioshkar Ola and Cheboksary.
The section devoted to the Great Patriotic War contains materials about alumni, front-line military educators and veterans. Here one may find frontline letters, original newspaper “Krasnaya Tataria”, 1942, Komsomol cards, receipt forms for the Red Forces Fund, materials about frontline teams, who were representatives of Kazan State Teachers Training Institute, and memoirs of veterans etc.
One of the sections demonstrates reconstructed interior of rector Y.A. Tuishev’s office room: his desk, inkstand, KSTTI passport.
The exhibition reflects contemporary function of Psychology and Education Institute of KFU and is a cultural center of the university. During last 11 years the museum held anniversary meetings with veterans and graduates, poetry evenings, books and exhibitions presentations, thematic meetings and seminars, saloons etc.
Usual visitors here are first year students, conference, seminars and meetings participants, who come to get acquainted with the history of pedagogical education in Tatarstan. Students also get the chance to meet veterans, famous people of Kazan (scientists, culture and arts workers). In collaboration with Education Department roundtables, contests and debates on various topics about patriotic education are held. All excursions are guided by students.
The museum area is 70 sq.m, it has about 500 exhibit items. Annual amount of visitors is about 9000 people (students, pupils, KFU guests, veterans, etc).
