Cooperation of Kazan University with Israel is developing within the frames of Protocol of Intent for cooperation with The Open university of Israel, signed on December, 2010.  The base for the Protocol was put through cooperation of associate professor B.M. Yagudin (The Institute of history of KFU) with colleagues from the Open University in the field of Eurasian studies.

Since July 2000, as the branch of the Department of the History of the Ancient World and the Meddle Ages at the Institute of History, the Centre of the Jewish history and culture has been functioning. At the present time Research and Educational Centre “History and Culture of the Jewish people” was formed on the basis of that Centre. Starting from 2012/13 academic year the Centre admits students for the master program  “Judaica,  the history and culture of the Jewish people: universal and regional aspects” within the module of History; it is also planning to develop and implement supplementary educational programs.

In March 2012, the project of “The Centre of Israeli and Middle East studies” was launched on the basis of the Institute of Oriental Studies and International Relations. At present the initiative group of students and graduates under the guidance of the Director of the Centre – associate professor of KFU Department of International Relations and Diplomacy Roman Penkovtsev have started research on the problems of Israel and the Middle East.

June 30, 2010, Israeli mathematics, professor of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Nobel Prize winner in Economics in 2005 “for having enhanced understanding of conflict and cooperation through game-theory analysis” Mr. Robert J. Aumann gave lectures on the theme “Theoretical and applied sciences in Israel”.

July 12, 2012, KFU was visited by the delegation of Israel which consisted of First Secretary of Israel in Russia Shlomo Voskoboynik and the Head of International Relations at Technion Institute Alex Gordon.
